Tora Fright is the fourth of five children. Until Baby Booyah was born, Tora was the baby, but she has grown into a strong, and fashionable little girl. When Tora wins first prize for her ceramic armadillo, she can’t wait to show her family. When Booyah accidentally breaks her armadillo, Tora must find a way to forgive him. Will Tora be able to forgive him with a little help and guidance from God?
This is an adorable children’s book that provides a real situation where a young child would have to find a way to forgive another. This can be exceedingly difficult when it involves something that you put a considerable amount of time and effort into.
The illustrations are very interesting and unique. Personally, the Fright family reminds me more of large cats than monsters, they are supposed to be monsters and they come across as very friendly looking monsters. The way that Tora originally lashes out in hurt, anger and frustration is very familiar to everyone, and a as a young child who has just had something that they worked very hard on destroyed, this is a quite natural reaction, though not a good one. Once the initial hurt and anger subside, however, it usually turns to regret.
When Tora’s armadillo is broken by her baby brother, she says some very hurtful things. After she calms down she realizes that she didn’t mean to hurt her baby brother. Tora prays and manages to forgive him.
I think this is a very good book for young children and am very happy to be allowed to read it.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wishes to help their child understand the importance of forgiveness.
